Getting Started with E-commerce Selling in India
In recent years, the e-commerce industry has witnessed tremendous growth. Businesses of all sizes are now leveraging platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Meesho to reach a wider customer base and grow their sales online.
Selling on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart opens doors to national-level opportunities. However, there are certain essential steps and documents required to get started.

Basic Requirements to Create a Seller Account
To begin selling on Amazon or Flipkart, you’ll need the

  • GST Number
  • Business Registration Certificate or Trademark Certificate
  • Bank Account
  • Registered Business Address
  • List item four
Product Barcodes (GTIN/UPC)
  • Each product you list must have a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) or UPC (Universal Product Code).
  • If your products don’t have barcodes, you may apply for a GTIN exemption (available only for specific categories).

Brand Approval & Authorization

  • Brand Approval: Before listing products, get your brand approved by submitting your business documents, real-world product photos, white-background product images, MRP labels, etc.
  • Brand Authorization: If you’re selling products under another company’s brand name, you must submit an authorization letter from that brand.

FSSAI License

For products under the food and grocery category, an FSSAI License is mandatory.
